Reflexology for fertility
The aim of fertility reflexology is to enhance the chances of natural conception by trying to create the best possible emotional and physical environment for the pregnancy. In terms of improving reproductive health, as a reflexologist, I work on the basis that stress can often create pressure on the body's systems that are vital to fertility. By reducing stress reflexology appears to have balancing effects on the body and mind.
Experiencing fertility issues can be an particularly sensitive subject and generates amultitude of emotions. Reflexology is incredibly calming and relaxing and may help balance hormones that are fundamental to the optimum functioning of the reproductive system. For example reflexology may be especially beneficial for women who have endometriosis or polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Reflexology may help to:
- Balance hormone levels.
- Regulate the menstrual cycle.
- Boost blood circulation.
- Encourage the whole body to relax.
- Stimulate the release of endorphins - the feel good hormones.
- Create a balanced environment for conception to take place.
By promoting a better circulation, cell health is maintained and the organs of the body are stimulated to function at their best. This makes the body a perfect place for baby to grow.
IVF - The Association of Reflexologists (AOR) guidelines on fertility state that drugs, such as clomiphene, buserelin, puregon etc. which are used to control the hormone cycle and then stimulate ovulation, do not appear to be affected by reflexology and there is no reason why a person should not have reflexology at the same time.
